Absolutely. You can link your standard Post Office Savings Account (POSA) to your India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) account, which allows immediate online fund transfers (NEFT/RTGS/IMPS) to other bank accounts.

Postal Life Insurance (PLI / RPLI)

Postal Life Insurance (PLI) is the oldest life insurance scheme meant for Government, semi-government employees, and professionals. Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) was introduced later to provide insurance coverage to people residing in rural areas, specifically weaker sections and women workers.
You can pay your PLI/RPLI premium online through the official India Post Customer Portal by registering with your policy number. Alternatively, premium can be deposited at any CBS Post Office.
To claim maturity or survival benefits, you must submit the original policy bond, premium receipt book/loan receipt book, and a completed claim form to the Postmaster of the office where the policy is kept in force.
Yes, loan facility is available against Endowment Assurance (after 3 years) and Whole Life Assurance policies (after 4 years). The policy must be active and have acquired a surrender value.
A medical examination is mandatory for most PLI policies, but there are certain "Non-Medical" policy options available up to a specific sum assured, provided the age criteria and other guidelines are met.
A lapsed policy can be revived by paying all pending premiums along with the default interest fees. If the lapse period exceeds one year, a certificate indicating good health may also be required by the department.

Mail & Parcels

The maximum weight limit for a domestic Speed Post article is 35 kilograms. The maximum physical dimension limit is 1.5 meters for length and 3 meters for length + girth combined.
In case of loss of Speed Post article, loss of contents, or damage, the compensation shall be double the Speed Post charges paid or Rs.1000/-, whichever is less. For delayed delivery, compensation equals the Speed Post charges paid.
Registered Post provides a secure transport mode where the article is recorded at every stage of handling, taking slightly longer than Speed Post. Speed Post is a premium, time-bound express service with end-to-end tracking and faster delivery norms.
Yes, international letters and standard parcels can be booked at major Post Offices. However, specifically for International Speed Post (EMS), it is advisable to visit computing-enabled Head Post Offices like Dhenkanal HO.
Items such as explosives, flammable materials, live animals, sharp instruments without proper protection, radioactive materials, and liquid chemicals are strictly prohibited from being transmitted via post.
Yes, India Post offers Cash on Delivery (COD) services for corporate customers and e-commerce retailers holding an agreement with the postal department. Up to Rs. 50,000 can be collected upon delivery.

Tracking & Tools

By clicking on the "Track Consignment" tool on our website, you will be securely redirected to the official India Post central tracking portal. Enter your 13-digit alphanumeric barcode (e.g., EA123456789IN) there to view the real-time status.
Tracking details update when an article gets physically scanned at transit hubs. Delays in updates can occur due to central server lag on the official portal, network connectivity issues at intermediate offices, or if the article is actively in transit between states.
Use the 'Postage Calculator' Tool. Like tracking, you will be redirected to the centralized India Post calculator, where you input the origin and destination PIN codes, weight, and dimensions to get an accurate cost.
Please check with your family members, security desk, or neighbors first. If it's still undiscovered, you should immediately file a formal grievance on this portal using your tracking number, and our delivery staff will intervene.
Domestic Electronic Money Orders (eMO) can be tracked using the standard tracking portal via their 18-digit PNR. However, international remittance tracking usually requires coordination directly through the remitter's origin bank/service.

Support & RTI

An RTI application can be filed in writing to the Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) at the Dhenkanal Division Office along with the prescribed fee of Rs. 10/-, paid via Indian Postal Order, Demand Draft, or cash against a proper receipt. You can also file it online via the RTI portal.
If unresolved at the Post Office level, escalate to the Superintendent of Post Offices (Dhenkanal). Further escalations can be made to the Post Master General (Sambalpur Region), Postal Directorate (New Delhi), and finally the Directorate of Public Grievances (DPG).
The Dhenkanal Head Post Office is situated centrally in Dhenkanal town. You can find precise contact numbers and maps in the 'Contact Us' directory section of this website.
Most general complaints and delivery queries are resolved within 7 to 15 working days. Complaints regarding fraud, loss assessments, and international mail may require up to 30 days or more based on standard departmental investigation norms.
Recruitments like Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) are strictly merit-based and published purely on the central India Post website (indiapostgdsonline.gov.in). Standard exams like SSC handle other departmental intakes. We do not hire direct offline candidates at the basic branch level.
